ANNOUNCEMENT BY THE CYPRUS ONCOLOGICAL SOCIETY (OEK)

In response to the reactions provoked by the appointment by the Council of Ministers of the President of the Greek National Health Insurance Fund (PIS) Dr. Petros Agathangelos to the Board of Directors of the Cyprus Oncology Society (OEK), as one of the Medical Scientific Societies that from the beginning stood in favor of the implementation of the General Health Insurance System (GHIS) and with all its members contracted with the HHS, believes that the representation of the Pancyprian Medical Association, at the highest institutional level, on the Board of Directors of the HHS can only bring positive elements to the proper operation and implementation of the General Health Insurance System (GHIS).

It is for this reason that OEK supports the standing position of the PIS and the medical community for the official institutionalization of the PIS representation on the Board of Directors of the Hellenic Health Insurance Organization.

OEK calls on the State and the House of Representatives to study the issue of amending the relevant legislation, so that the institutionalized participation of the PIS, as an institution, in the Board of Directors of the OAY becomes possible.
