ANNOUNCEMENT – ONCOLOGICAL SOCIETY OF CYPRUS OEK – 11/03/2020

In view of the situation that has arisen with the confirmation of Coronavirus cases, the Cyprus Oncology Society (OEK), addressing patients with active cancer or survivors of the disease, would like to point out that the preventive measures announced by the Ministry of Health fully cover vulnerable groups of the population, such as cancer patients.

Patients receiving oncological treatments and who are likely to be immunosuppressed should be particularly careful by taking all announced self-protection measures and at the same time avoiding gatherings and traveling by public transportation.

For the period of time determined by the Ministry of Health, it is recommended that visits to doctors’ offices and hospitals be made only in cases where it is necessary with a single companion if possible.

It is noted that there is no reason to panic or even interrupt treatments since the country’s Oncology Centers and Departments are taking the appropriate measures to protect patients.
